Wentworth Heights B&B is committed to sustainability, and we have implemented measures to help protect and sustain the environment for future generations.

• We recycle where-ever possible and have reduced solid wastes to a minimum
  
• All green waste and food scraps are composted
  
• Most vegetables, herbs and berries are home grown and spray free, and the remainder are purchased from local shops and farmers markets
  
• Jams, preserves, relishes, sauces, soups and baking are home made
  
• Native trees and shrubs have been planted and gardens established to encourage bird life
  
• Cleaning chemicals have been replaced by a microfibre cloth cleaning system
  
• Laundry is washed in cold water and line dried where ever possible
  
• Old linen is recycled and donated to charities
  
• Light bulbs have been replaced with energy saver bulbs
  
• Guests are given the option of “re-using” towels, rather than having them changed daily
  
• Water consumption is reduced by the installation of water efficient shower heads and dual flush toilet systems
  
• Waste packaging is reduced by bulk buying where possible
  
• Shopping for all purchases is done locally
  
• Pushbikes are available for guests use, and walking is encouraged to enjoy our wonderful parks and reserves
  
• Participation in annual “Community Clean-up Days”
  
• $2 from every room night is donated to The “Hokonui Heritage Centre”
  
• Without compromising our guests’ enjoyment or comfort, we encourage “Environmental Awareness” by promoting water conservation, electricity conservation, recycling, and appreciation of the outdoors
